Colt 1860 Army 44 caliber circa 1862 Civil War Era
Description:
The gun is all matching numbers except the barrel
which is 11 digits off which is not that odd for a civil war gun.
Barrels got mixed at cleaning sessions, in armories and one hypothesis
is that at the end of a run at the factory itself. (shipped April
1862)
The bore is in very good condition and lockup and timing are also very
good. The previous owner actually shot this gun on occasion and gave
me a load formula which I never did use as I never shot it. The French
Walnut box and other implements were acquired by me.
It has a beautiful patina over all and doesn't look messed with. It
was cut and numbered for a shoulder stock from the factory and the two
holes in the grip butt, along with the cutout for the rear sight
indicate a Mexican shoulder stock connection. They screwed theirs onto
the gun.
The flask, pack of nipples and bullet mold are all original items.
Also included is an extra barrel wedge which is unnumbered as is the
installed one.I'm looking to get back what I have into it, and will
price it at $2350 shipped insure USPS Priority as an antique.
