Description: Colt. Model 1855 Side hammer percussion revolver. (SOLD) Cal. 28. 3 ½” octagon barrel with a bright shinny bore. This is a very minty little Root with all matching numbers. Barrel and frame retain about 95% bright original finish with loss being at one area at left of recoil shield and a little at the base of the backstrap. Cylinder retains about 30% original blue finish with the balance bearing a lovely smooth brown patina. The cylinder shows 95% of its crisp cylinder scene. The loading lever and hammer show lots of original case color hardened finish overall. The one piece walnut grip rates excellent with 95% plus original varnish remaining. The revolver comes in its original walnut and mahogany casing which is lined in red baize which has faded to a wonderful dull salmon color and includes a brass two cavity mold, a minty E. Pluribus Unum flask which retains nearly all of its original lacquer, an Ely cap tin full of pristine caps and the key to the case. The condition of the case is excellent inside and out.
