Colt Single Action Army Revolver in 45 Colt Caliber
Description:
Offered for sale is a Colt Single Action Army Revolver in 45 Colt caliber. Serial number is 133344 giving a manufacturing date of 1890. The revolver bears the following stamped markings: US on the left side of the frame, RAC on the Barrell, Frame and Cylinder, A on trigger guard and is marked "Bertolin" on the Butt strap. The trigger guard does not match the serial number and is marked 4966.
This revolver is very typical of the "Calvary" models returned to Colt in 1896. These guns were disassembled, refinished and had their barrels shortened from 7 1/2 to 5 1/2 inches ( a much easier length to carry). this would account for the difference in the serial numbers as no care was taken when reassembling these reworked revolvers.
The gun is in excellent mechanical condition and functions as it was designed to do. The trigger has four full clicks when cocked.
The gun retains aproximately 80% of its refinished "Blue" finish with slight finish wears to left side of the barrel and the right side of the ejector tube. The gun is free of any surface damage, rust or pitting. The walnut grips are wilthout cracks, chips or marks except for light wear on the bottom of the butt.
Altogether this is a very nice Colt and would add nicely to any collection.
