1937 Colt Woodsman Sport Model 1st Series .22LR Pistol
** Exceptionally Beautiful Woodsman! **
Description:
The Colt Woodsman is considered by many to one of the finest rimfire automatic pistols ever built. The Woodsman 1st Series was built between 1927 and 1947 and spanned 3 series and many variations. This particular pistol is a 1st Series Sport Model which was introduced in 1933. The 1st Series Sport Models feature a blue finish, 4.5" inch barrel, checkered Walnut grips, a 10-shot magazine, and a bottom-mounted magazine release. This pistol is serial number 110210 and was manufactured in 1937. It is in superb all-original condition. The factory blue finish rates 96% +/- with only a touch of blue wear on either side of the muzzle and some scattered very minor handling/storage marks if you look very closely. The bore is in minty like-new condition. It is bright and pristine, with sharp lands and grooves still visible in the rifling. The original checkered Walnut grips are in excellent condition. The checkering is still crisp and they are completely free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. The original 2-tone factory magazine is still in this Woodsman Sport Model. It is in great shape overall but does browning of the blue finish on the magazine body and floorplate. The follower still has plenty of spring pressure and when function-checked with dummy rounds it works perfectly. All of the controls on this Woodsman are in perfect working order. The slide is tight on the frame but still works smoothly by hand. The trigger is excellent, breaking with a very light pull with no felt grit or slop. This 1st Series Woodsman Sport Model is certainly a collector-grade piece and would be an excellent addition to any collection. It is not too often that we get these pre-war Colt Woodsman pistols in the shop in any condition, much less as beautiful and clean as this example is.
