FIRST MODEL "BULLSEYE" MATCH TARGET WOODSMAN .22 AUTO PISTOL

Description:
FIRST MODEL "BULLSEYE" MATCH TARGET WOODSMAN .22 AUTO PISTOL. Brought out to much fanfare extolling its hand fitting and polishing in 1938, this distinct and unique pistol was discontinued during World War II and never resurrected in the same mode after the war's end. Only 15,100 were manufactured, including some fitted with plastic stocks and marked U.S. Property for training purposes during the war. Commercial models were made with over-long "elephant ear" grips which often were replaced or broken. This example is all original and in fine condition. It is serial number MT 9XXX indicating a manufacture date of 1940. It retains about all of the original blue with only slight edge and other wear and some minor dulling of the high polish blue on the back strap only. Grips show light handling only and the action and bore are excellent. A fine example that has seen very light use.
