1993 Vintage Colt All-American Model 2000 9mm DAO Semi-Auto Pistol w/ 2 Factory Magzines & Loader
SOLD
Description: This is a very lightly-used and clean Colt All-American Model 2000 9mm pistol made in the last year of production, 1993. This Colt comes with two 15-round factory magazines and a factory magazine loading tool. The double-action only, semi-automatic 9mm Colt All-American Model 2000 was introduced in 1991 and was aimed at recapturing the police and law enforcement market as departments all over the U.S. switched to semi-auto pistols from revolvers. The All-American Model 2000 was designed first by C. Reed Knight and Eugene Stoner before being handed off to Colt for the firm to perfect and produce. The design was unique in that it used a rotating barrel assembly like the Steyr 1912 and a French designed roller-locking action with a polymer or alloy frame. The barrel itself had integral locking lugs, similar to the M16 rifle. While Reed's and Stoner's design was good when it was handed off to Colt, Colt changed many of the parameters of the gun and subcontracted the manufacture of all of the parts, only handling the assembly of these parts into a gun. The end result was not good. The Colt All-American Model 2000 was plagued by reliability issues from the outset of production, and when it did work it was not accurate compared to the competition. Add to that a safety recall from Colt in 1993 and the All-American Model 2000's fate was sealed. The All-American was discontinued in 1993 after less than 3 years of production. Today the Colt All-American is sought-after as a collectible and is pretty scarce due to the low production figures. This particular example is a polymer framed model that has been very lightly-used. The factory matte blue finish on the slide rates 97% with some very minor handling marks and some very light finish wear on either side of the frame, where the cross-pin that holds the slide on the frame makes contact with the slide when the action is worked. The bore in this Colt is mirror-bright and perfect, with like-new rifling and no visible imperfections or erosion. The polymer frame and the checkered black rubber grip panels on this Colt are in like-new condition, free from any scratches, marks, wear, or damage of any kind. The checkering on the black rubber grip panels is still sharp and clean, and both sides have perfect silver Rampant Colt medallions in place. All of the controls on this All-American are in like-new, perfect working order, and the action is smooth and slick. The double-action only trigger is in perfect working order, although the pull is long and relatively heavy at 12 pounds (the original Stoner design was no more than 6 pounds). This scarce Colt comes with 2 factory 15-round double-stack magazines in excellent condition, as well as the factory magazine loading tool. This Colt would be a great addition to any Colt collection as a scarce example of one of Colt's failed models.
