COLT 1911AI LATE WWII JSB INSPECTED ORIGINAL

Description:
This is a Minty Colt 1911A1 pistol that was inspected late 1945 by John S. Begley. District Chief and Army Inspector of Ordnance,Springfield Ordnance District. Pistol is stamped J.S.B.. Serial number is 1672638. While this pistol was probably assembled out of it's normal serial range,(October 1944), or not delivered in October 1944 for whatever reason, was inspected when Begley was inspecting from July-September 1945. Colt at that time was cleaning up the contract with anything they had as they knew the end was near for selling pistols to the government. Basically sweeping the floor and looking in every cabinet as told by a factory worker at that time. There are a couple similar serial number guns listed in both Clawson's and Meadows books. Colt wasn't making guns for future collectors, so you can't always go by a book as to when a gun was shipped. JSB inspected 1911A1's are very scarce and void in many collections. Check prices that these few have brought. Some authorities calm less than 100. RARE! This gun is a true 98-99% ORIGINAL condition. They don't come much better. Everything is correct. Bore is mint.
