Description:
Colt AR-15 Lightweight, chambered in .223/5.56 Nato. Overall condition is good. Now for the good stuff, this gun is marked RESTRICTED MILITARY/GOVERNMENT LAW ENFORCEMENT/ EXPORT USE ONLY, and the serial number is LSL003894. We cannot determine the age of this gun due to the fact that the Colt registry does not recognize the LSL prefix of the serial number. Our search of the internet indicates the "L" prefix is a police issued gun. We have found some postings on forums that other people own a LSL prefix gun but have no further info. The barrel is marked 5.56 Nato 1/7 twist. What we found when we googled the markings: Colt firearms marked "RESTRICTED MILITARY/GOVERNMENT LAW ENFORCEMENT/EXPORT USE ONLY" are iconic AR-15 and M4 variants produced during the 1994–2004 Federal Assault Weapons Ban. History of the Markings The 1994 Ban: The federal law banned certain features on civilian rifles (like bayonet lugs and collapsible stocks).Exemptions: Police, military, and export markets were exempt from these rules.Colt's Rule: Colt voluntarily marked certain carbines to ensure they were strictly used by these authorized groups during the ban.Ban Expiration: The ban ended in September 2004, so the restrictive markings were no longer needed. Colt stopped using them and now uses standard civilian markings. .223/5.5
