About the Colt Automatic Caliber .25: This model occupies a unique niche in Colt's history. When the 1968 Gun Control Act halted importation of the Spanish-made "Colt Junior," Colt contracted Firearms International of Accokeek, Maryland, to produce a domestic replacement — marketed as "Automatic Caliber .25" and identifiable by its "OD" serial prefix and slide roll mark. Featuring an exposed hammer (unlike the earlier hammerless Colt pocket pistols), it was produced only from 1971 to 1973, making it a genuinely scarce, short-production piece of Colt's pocket-pistol lineage.
