This gun is in wonderful shape and was manufactured in 1968. It is clad in rich plum blue with all markings perfectly legible. The applied solid rib on slide is marked "GILES .45 SHOP/ODESSA, FLORIDA" with adjustable rear site, custom hammer and trigger, course milled front grip strap, and the basket weave checkered wood grips show minimal handling. It also comes with 3 total mags and a bagmaster soft case.
A little bit about John Giles, the noted gunsmith who did the customization of this gun from the Colt Club Forum:
"John Giles was a genius gunsmith who worked on 1911s and 22s during the 60s thru the 80s. He had the .45 shop in Odessa Florida and many of his 1911s shot at camp Perry (National Match Competitions) along with those of James Clark. He was known for his "wagon wheel" looking sight which usually was a full rib for target. His trademark were the welds he added to the inside of the slide to increase the lockup. Usually there was one but sometimes two or rarely three. His groups atr 50 yards were phenomenal, something like 3/4 of an inch at 50 yards. Thats half the size of the $295 1.5" Baer guarantee!!!"
