Colt Single Action Army .45 Colt – 3rd GEN, 175th ANNIVERSARY, NEW, vintage firearms inc
Description:
General Specs: Colt, Year 2011, .45 colt, 2lbs 6oz
Serial Number: S65795A
How things changed with the onset of World War 2. Production of most civilian firearms stopped dead for war production. The Colt Single Action Army (SAA) production numbers had been woeful since the Great Depression had set in, Colt’s machinery for producing this model was badly worn, and when the war started it was pretty much decided that the public was finished with this relic of the great frontier days. Post war there were no plans to revive the SAA, as the world was moving to double action revolvers and Smith and Wesson was on the rise with many new models. Then came television, with the western TV shows and movies, and the public began lusting after “cowboy” guns again. Colt was quick to oblige, with their second generation offering of the famed Colt Single Action Army. Released in 1956 and in continuous production through 1974, the comeback was strong. The 3rd Generation Colt SAA began production in 1976 and was discontinued in 1982. Then Cowboy Action Shooting came alive and Colt introduced the “Late 3rd Generation” SAA that began production in 1994 and are still available today from the Colt Custom Shop. This Colt Custom Shop Colt SAA, snS65795A, was built in 2011 and remains NEW IN THE ORIGINAL BOX, CYLINDER HAS NEVER BEEN TURNED, NOT A SCRATCH ANYWHERE. This gun was ordered with Royal Blue finish and standard grips, and a 5 ½” barrel. The original grips are with the box and a set of perfectly fit custom Elk Horn stag grips (cost over $300 fitted to the gun) are on the gun presently. The cost of this gun new today with standard grips is $3450. The genuine stag grips add $300, bringing the value of this new gun to $3750 retail. As you can see in the photos, this is not a used gun, nor a gun “in excellent condition…”. It is new and unfired with a crispy new original box, papers and the white outside shipping sleeve fully intact. We are offering this gun at a very fair price so don’t hesitate, as I think this one is going to sell quickly! Thanks for looking.
