Antique BRASS FRAME Merrimack Arms Spur Trigger .41 RF SOUTHERNER Deringer
Single Shot Self Defense Spur Trigger Pistol
Description: Antique BRASS FRAME Merrimack Arms Spur Trigger .41 RF SOUTHERNER Deringer Single Shot Self Defense Spur Trigger Pistol Here we present an antique Brass Frame Merrimack Arms Co. Southern Deringer made circa 1869-73 in Newburyport, Massachusetts. There were approximately 16,000 of these little single shots built following the Civil War during its four year production run. Nobody is certain exactly why this pistol acquired the "Southerner" nickname, but it is clearly befitting of uncertain and often chaotic times of the Reconstruction Era. The first three years of production beginning in 1866 were made under the name Brown. From 1869 to 1873, they were built under the name Merrimack in their own serial range of 1 through approximately 10,000. The iron frames are found in serial number range 1950-4500 and made up less than 30% of the production while the rest were brass frames. Obviously, the iron frames are by far much harder to locate. Brown and Merrimack also produced Ballard Rifles before being sold off to Marlin in the early 1870's. The overall condition is very good. Modestly refinished. Strong action. The bore is bright. Both grips are in good shape with average handing. Legible markings. “SOUTHERNER” marked barrel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-1/2 inches. Caliber: .41 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1550 #220056 SOLD Antique: Yes |
