Classic single shot Henry Derringer pistol as immortalized by the infamous J.W.B./Lincoln assassination, this example with 3" barrel, German silver fittings and very clear markings over chamber and right lockplate.
Description:
Standard configuration Derringer Percussion pistol with 3" barrel, with drift adjustable front sight made of German silver. Chamber marked "DERINGER/PHILADEL". The right side of the lock plate with the same marking. Light engraving over hammer, lockplate, and the majority of the German silver fittings including the trigger guard. Double silver banded breech. Ownership escutcheon on grip unmarked. Single piece stock with coarse nearly wrap-around checkering.
Condition:
VG original finish with barrel retaining much of its original browning, etching has carefully photographed. Comparable condition German silver fittings and grip that has the usual darkening and light scattered handling marks but no splits or significant losses. Sharp, deeply cut rifling. Correct manual mechanics. A classic and all original pocket sized "true Derringer" made by Henry Derringer in Philadelphia.
