Detonics Manufacturing Corporation was an innovative American firearms company known for pioneering compact 1911-style pistols, especially for concealed carry. Founded in the mid-1970s in Seattle, Washington, Detonics quickly earned a reputation in the 1980s as a small but cutting-edge manufacturer.

Forward-mounted rear sight set about 1" forward on the slide to prevent snagging.

Multi-spring recoil system to improve reliability in short slides.

No grip safety on many models—a unique departure from standard 1911s.

All stainless-steel construction (unusual for the time).

The Street Master was essentially a hybrid design, combining:

The longer slide and barrel of a Government (improved sight radius, velocity, accuracy)

The short grip frame of the Combat Master (better concealability)

This Street Master was built by master gunsmith Terry Tussey (://tusseycustom/) from an unbuilt Factory Parts kit. Only fired for function testing. All parts are Detonics/Detonics USA OEM.

This combination made the Street Master more comfortable to shoot than the smaller Combat Master while still easier to conceal than a full-size 1911.
