This presentation pistol and knife belonged to famed OSS Officer and Soldier of Fortune, Gen. Mitch WerBell. It has remained in the WerBell estate since his death in 1983 until recently when they were transferred through a private sale.

Both pieces bear inscriptions to Gen. WerBell. The pistol was gifted as a dedication from the owners of the original Detonics Corp. The F/S Commando knife was a gift to the Gen. by a colleague and Special Forces soldier.

The Combat Master remains in NRA excellent, unfired condition. The knife and sheath both in excellent condition, the blade has not been sharpened.
The pstol is factory inscribed; "MADE ESPECIALLY FOR General Werbell"
The F/S knife inscribed "TO: MITCH WER BELL FROM: WILLIE PETER ROMFH 5TH SPECIAL FORCES GROUP VIETNAM".

Mitchell WerBell, the son of a former Czarist Calvary officer, was born in Philadelphia in 1918.

During WWII Werbell joined the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) and saw action in Burma and China which brought WerBell into "the super-spy fraternity".

After the war, WerBell lived outside of Atlanta as an arms dealer operating several weapons manufacturing firms including Military Armament Corporation (MAC), Defense Services and Quantum Ordnance Bankers distributing advanced weaponry to selective foreign groups.

In 1959 WerBell did covert work for Batista in Cuba and it's rumored he was involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy, that WerBell supplied the silencers used by the gunmen in Dallas. It was said he was also involved with Jack Ruby.

WerBell did covert work in the Dominican Republic, and Vietnam. In 1966 WerBell served on Project Nassau, a planned invasion of Haiti to oust the dictator Francois “Papa Doc” Duvalier.

In 1967 WerBell formed a partnership with Gordon Ingram. Together they distributed the Ingram M-11, a hand-held, quiet machine gun.

Modern firearms must be transferred through a licensed FFL dealer in your area. A C&R license is acceptable for C&R firearms only (guns determined to be C&R eligible by ATF and/or guns known to be at least 50 years old).
New York Residents: Handguns cannot be shipped directly to a C&R holder in the State of New York and must be transferred through your local dealer.
Antique firearms require the buyer to supply proof of age. Some areas may require an FFL transfer for antique & black powder firearms (New Jersey, NYC, etc.)
