Description: BRITISH (LONDON) PERCUSSION OFFICER’S DUELLING PISTOL WITH AUSTRALIA AGENT MARK CIRCA 1840. 15” o/a with 9” smoothbore .66 cal. octagon sighted barrel engraved on the top flat “POTTS BAGSTER BROWN & CO”. Scroll engraved steel mounts and steel stirrup ramrod. Walnut stock with checkered bag grip and German silver oval wedge escutcheons. Engraved lock and hammer. Platinum lined bolster. Original nipple with slight loss to the cone which is easy to replace. Otherwise fine overall with very crisp original patina on metal and the original stock finish. Barrel with London Proof House proofs on underside at breech. Lock in perfect working order and reasonably good bore. Potts, Bagster, Brown & Co. were Australian Import Agent in Sydney from the early 1840’s. Scarce Australian Agent mark. SOLD Antique: Yes |
