This 1914 model Artillery Luger is one of only 15,000 manufactured in 1915. Most of these early artillery Lugers were lost in the first few years of WWI so they are much scarder than the later 1917 and 1918-dated artillery Lugers. The 1914 artillery has four key features: 1) DWM toggle inscription, 2) 8-inch barrel with nine position adjustable rear sight, 3) the four digit year date on the chamber, and 4) no commercial proof marks. The 9mm Luger caliber barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The front and rear sights are the desirable fine tune variation. The gun has approx. 95% blue overall with the grip straps starting to turn. The strawi parts retain approx. 98% finish. All numbers, including the fiting pin, grips, and magazine are matching. The action functions correctly. The brown holster and stock are fine shownig some wear. The holster straps and stitching are intact. The cleaning rod and takedown tool are present in the holster. The stock is numbered 456 on the atttaching metal and 35 on the wood to the rear of the locking lever. An early 1915 dated artillery rig is rarely offered, especially with a matching gun in super condition. If you collect WWI German handguns, don't miss this one!
