This DWM double date (1920/ 1918) P.08 rework pistol was made for the post-WWI Weimar army (the Reichswehr). Military Model 1908 and 1914 pistols were reworked by the Erfurt Arsenal. The 1920 chamber date is the Reichswehr property stamp. This is a 1918 dated DWM rework P.08. The 4"" 9mm barrel on this pistol has a fine bore with strong rifling. The gun has approx. 90% touched up blue with scattered lidht pitting on the barrel and right side rail. The straw parts have lost most of their finish. The barrel, frame, toggle assembly, safety, sear, and side plate have matching numbers. The take down lever and trigger are mismatched. The unnumbered wood base magazine is marked GERMANY. The mismatched grips are good with moderate wear. The left grip panel is missing a small amount of wood at the bottom right. The front grip strap is marked 5. / A. R. 2. 27. which most likely stands for the fifth company of the Second Artillery Regiment, gun 27. The action functions correctly. Here's your chance to get an uncommon double date Army rework P.08 at a reasonable price.
