What we have here is a beautiful German military issue P.08 Luger pistol. Its crest dates this pistol to 1917. It has matching serial numbers on everything except the two magazines. The first holster is dated 1912 and has a built-in magazine pouch. It is of course missing some of the original stitching, a condition many Luger holsters are found in. It can undoubtedly be re-stitched though. The second holster is a reproduction featuring a 1916 stamp on the back. It has been oiled properly to fit the pistol. The Luger magazine loading tool is inside its pouch on the inside of the holster flap. The pistol has four acceptance stamps on the right side of the receiver. The Prussian Eagle is stamped on top of the, the front of the trigger guard, and on the left side of the breechblock. The full serial number is given on the front of the frame, the bottom of the barrel, and the left side of the receiver. The last two digits of the serial number are stamped on the locking bolt, the side plate, the ejector (only the last digit is visible while the side plate is on), the rear and central toggle links, the extractor, and the safety bar. There is a bit of bluing loss on certain parts of the gun, mostly in places involving moving parts. There is a small amount on the frame, just behind the toggle grips. Another spot is on the back of the frame, where the toggle link rubs up against it during firing. At the muzzle and the side plate, there appears to be a loss of bluing as well, though in these two cases this can be chalked up to holster wear. Otherwise, this pistol is in excellent condition considering the year of manufacture and the possibility that this pistol was used in not one, but two world wars! The bore itself appears to be in excellent condition although it could use a little cleaning as there is some fouling present. Lugers are the most desirable of all German pistols. This desirability has driven up prices over the years and now these fine pistols are near sky-high. Buy one while you still can!
