German INTERWAR Commercial DWM LUGER 7.65x21mm Semi-Auto PISTOL C&R P08 .30 Weimar Era Sidearm
Description: German INTERWAR Commercial DWM LUGER 7.65x21mm Semi-Auto PISTOL C&R P08 .30 Weimar Era Sidearm Here we present a C&R German Commercial DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) Luger Pistol, made circa the 1920s-30s in Berlin. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. In 1900 the United States ordered 1,000 Lugers in 7.65x21mm Parabellum, or .30 Luger, for infantry and cavalry trials. It received pushback from soldiers that said the caliber was too small and the firearm itself was unreliable. Which, in turn, led to DMW developing the 9mm caliber version of the Luger shortly thereafter. The barrel is what is commonly called a "1920 Commercial". The reason for this is that immediately after World War I the German government was forced under the Treaty of Versailles to dispose of their 9mm pistols, so they re-barreled them in the smaller 7.65mm parabellum and large numbers were sold off commercially and to foreign governments. Also, manufacturers such as DWM weren’t allowed to produce 9mm weapons, thus the smaller 7.65mm chambering. The overall condition is very good. Partially refinished: blue finish on the barrel, receiver, and toggle is original. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The wooden grips are replacements and are solid. Takedown lever is force matched. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 4 inches. Caliber: 7.65x21mm Parabellum (.30 Luger) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
