Description:
Offered for sale is one (1) very fine condition German WW2 Model LP42 Flare Pistol, WA code, which is Hugo Schneider AG, Leipzig Germany. Serial # 187700. Caliber is 26.5mm or often seen as "4". The original exterior galvanized finish is excellent, left bakelite grip is excellent, right bakelite grip has a small area below the screw missing, most likely from period of use. Original screws and escutcheons present. Rear breech face has a loaded chamber indicator located left of centerline. Hammer and trigger functions perfectly, as does the lock and release button. Bore has scattered areas that are dark or slightly pitted.
The LP42 was brought into service as a substitute for the Model 34 because the LP 42 could be produced faster and cheaper than the Model 34. This was due to manufacturing techniques using sheet steel forming in mass production. It was a reliable and sturdy flare pistol.
