These are "new in the box", Pre-Ban FN Five Seven IOM pistols, that are complete with three mags, paperwork, accessories and their original box. The IOM stands for "Improved Optics Model," and it's notable for its high-capacity magazine and 5.7x28mm ammunition, which is known for its penetration capabilities. The serial numbers are consecutive 038101721 and 0386101722.
Considered by many to be a truly innovative design, it is made from light weight composite materials and chambered in very potent bottleneck 5.7MM cartridge. This cartridge can attain very high muzzle velocities, more comparable to carbines, than handguns. Very ergonomic and light, with 20-shot capacity, it became a favorite self-protection weapon of the civilian contractors working in post-war Iraq. These are the early variation IOM model, with round trigger guard and adjustable sights. Only a couple thousand were made before the round trigger guard was eliminated two years into production. This variation became a collector's item and very few can be found available for sale. Once ban expired/lifted, the IOM was sold off and changed to a USG model.
The IOM was built for numerous reasons. One was for contractors to use in Iraq to penetrate body armor. Hence the oversized finger guard for gloved hands which makes the pistol distinguished.
