Description: ENGRAVED Antique BRITISH Boxlock .69 “MANSTOPPER” Percussion BELT Pistol Mid-1800s Foreward Facing Spur SIDEHAMMER Pistol Here we present a nicely engraved antique British Sidehammer Boxlock Percussion Belt Pistol, made circa the 1850s in Birmingham, England. This pistol is light and simple. Interestingly, the hammer spur is forward facing, and is in its original configuration! This makes an already unique piece more aesthetically desirable with its stealth like appearance. With its .69 caliber “manstopping” bore, this pistol would have been quite the deterrent against ne’er do wells and ruffians roaming the city streets in tumultuous Europe in the early to mid-1800s. The unique hammer design catches the eye quickly and induces a double take. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Sharply engraved. The grip has a repair on both sides near the frame, behind the trigger guard, which remains stable. The sliding safety is missing. The belt clip has broken off. Own the original!
