FRENCH Saint-Étienne POLICEMAN Model “Le Francais” 6.35mm SEMI-AUTO Pistol
Manufactured by MANUFRANCE circa 1922!
Description: FRENCH Saint-Étienne POLICEMAN Model “Le Francais” 6.35mm SEMI-AUTO Pistol Manufactured by MANUFRANCE circa 1922! Here we present a C&R French Policeman Model “Le Francais” Semi-Automatic Pistol manufactured circa 1922 at the Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne, often abbreviated to MAS ("Saint-Étienne Weapons Factory" in English). It was a French state-owned weapons manufacturer in the town of Saint-Étienne, Loire founded in 1764. Manufrance was the trade name of Manufacture Francaise d'Armes et Cycles de St. Etienne ("French Arms and Cycle Factory of St. Etienne"), a French mail order company which was situated in the manufacturing town of St. Etienne since 1888. It was mainly sold in France, primarily to the greater public but also to some officers of the French Army and to the French municipal police. In 1912, Etienne Mimard the Head of Manufrance started development. Mr. Mimard obtained the patent for the first model (Modèle E) on August 6, 1913. Sales started in 1914 with the name "Le Français". This features a tip up barrel for loading the first round. After the first shot each successive shot is fed from the magazine. There is a slide but it is not used to charge the gun, hence the tip up barrel. This is a hard-to-find little pocket gun, and any pre-World War II pistol that exists after occupation of the country by the Germans is a scarcity. The overall condition is fine. Blued finish. The action is strong. The bore is bright with good rifling. The grips are solid. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 3-1/2 inches. Caliber: 6.35mm (.25 ACP) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2000 #215397 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
