GERMAN MILITARY PERCUSSION
CAVALRY CARBINE . PISTOL
Description: A circa 1810-1850 German Percussion Cavalry or Horse Pistol in .70 caliber. The barrel is 11" and round in a blued finish with 70 to 80% remaining. The overall length is 17". The walnut stock goes almost to the end of the barrel. There is an aperature (or cut) in the wrist to attach a stock and convert this pistol into a rifle. These are rare and hard to find. There is a landyard ring on the butt and a safety on the left side opposite the hammer. The action is strong.. The lock, hammer and rear part of the trigger guard are blued. . The butt cap, trigger guard balance, side plate and barrel end cap are all brass with a nice original patina. There are numerous military markings which I will briefly describe: The top of the grip (past the barrel tang) is engraved with "No.422" and possibly 2 small # 8's, and also a "C".; the trigger guard contains a proof mark that looks like our dollar sign inside an anchor, along with the number "61" in two places; there is also a "61" right behind the rear sight ( which can be raised or lowered); the brass side plate has a "K" that same dollar style proof mark and a "D"; also a "C","61", and "B 103"; the stock above the trigger is stamped with an "L" and "54".Lots of marks to research. . Just about all of the wood finish reamins.. This old military weapon has a lot of character that was probably earned the hard way- in battle.. The overall appearance is very good, especially for a military weapon that has obviously seen active duty. There will be a shipping charge. This is an antique so it can be sent directly to a new proud owner. No FFL is required.
