The WWI DWM 1917 Artillery Luger is a variant of the famous Luger P08 pistol, manufactured by Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) in 1917. It was designed specifically for use by German artillery units during World War I and featured several modifications to enhance its
Unlike the standard P08 Luger, the Artillery Luger features an 8-inch barrel, which increased accuracy and effective range. It has a tangent Rear adjustable rear sight calibrated for distances up to 800 meters, making it more effective at longer ranges. It is chambered for 9mm Parabellum (9x19mm), the same as the standard P08. It uses an 8-round detachable box magazine, but could also be paired with a 32-round Trommel magazin (snail drum magazine) for increased firepower. The 1917 date stamp on the chamber indicates the year of production, and the toggle link bears the DWM (Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken) logo.
The Artillery Luger was issued mainly to German artillery units, stormtroopers, and aviators. It was meant to serve as a personal defense weapon with greater range than a standard sidearm. This specimen has been BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED AND IS QUITE STRIKING IN APPEARANCE. The blued finish is 100% bright on barrel and frame. The straw color in appropriate places is bright. The markings are sharp. The grips are near perfect as well as is the bore. Offered here for sale and just acquired is another highly collectible classic Grman WWI pistol. The WWI DWM 1917 Artillery Luger is a variant of the famous Luger P08 pistol, manufactured by Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) in 1917. It was designed specifically for use by German artillery units during World War I and featured several modifications to enhance its
Unlike the standard P08 Luger, the Artillery Luger features an 8-inch barrel, which increased accuracy and effective range. It has a tangent Rear adjustable rear sight calibrated for distances up to 800 meters, making it more effective at longer ranges. It is chambered for 9mm Parabellum (9x19mm), the same as the standard P08. It uses an 8-round detachable box magazine, but could also be paired with a 32-round Trommel magazin (snail drum magazine) for increased firepower. The 1917 date stamp on the chamber indicates the year of production, and the toggle link bears the DWM (Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken) logo.
The Artillery Luger was issued mainly to German artillery units, stormtroopers, and aviators. It was meant to serve as a personal defense weapon with greater range than a standard sidearm. This specimen has been BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED AND IS QUITE STRIKING IN APPEARANCE. The blued finish is 100% bright on barrel and frame. The straw color in appropriate places is bright. The markings are sharp. The grips are near perfect as well as is the bore. These pistols are highly sought after by collectors, especially those with matching serial numbers, original stocks, and accessories.
