H&R U.S.R.A. Model single shot target pistol with tip-up 7" barrel having ramped, undercut, Patridge front sight guarded by separable protector, elevation-adjustable rear sight, automatic extractor, and short hammer fall. Approximately 3500 assembled between 1928-1941, cal. .22 LR, SN: 1843. Top of rib marked "HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO. / WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A." Left side of barrel: "H&R .22 SINGLE SHOT / LONG RIFLE CARTRIDGE / U.S.R.A. MODEL" in multiple lines. Checkered spur hammer and adjustable serrated trigger, both with polished sides. Walnut grip with tang extension and generous checkered panels, secured to frame with single screw at rear. This model achieved such exceptional accuracy that it was adopted by the U.S. Army Pistol Team and gained prominence in 1932 when an H&R pistol was used to set a new U.S. pistol record, establishing it as the most famous firearm of its kind during that era.
Condition:
EXC bright original pre-war blue with minor muzzle wear and a few miniscule handling marks. Polished sides of hammer and trigger remaining bright. Comparable condition frontstrap and grip, the latter nearly new excepting for four small dings at the rearmost extension of the tang. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics.
