The HK P9S is a highly regarded roller-delayed blowback pistol, and the "Target" or "Sport" variants (often categorized into Groups) represent the pinnacle of its precision engineering. This  HK P9S is the Sport Group III kit, which was designed for competition and  includes both a standard and an extended barrel with a compensator on the extended barrel to provide balance and reduce muzzle flip.

Key Features of the Target/Sport Setup

• The Barrel Weight (Compensator): Unlike modern "ported" compensators that vent gas, the P9S Sport weight is a solid piece of steel that slides over the extended 5.5" barrel. It is secured by a cross-screw and provides significant front-end mass to stabilize the pistol during rapid fire. Matching spare Carry slide assembly with 4" barrel 
• Match Trigger: The Target models include an adjustable over-travel stop (a small screw behind the trigger) and a significantly lightened single-action break compared to the service model.3
• Polygonal Rifling: This unique barrel design provides a better gas seal, which H&K claimed increased muzzle velocity (approx. 1,280  fps for 9mmP in the Sport barrel vs 1,150  fps  in the standard).
• Sights: These models feature a tall "shark fin" front sight and a fully adjustable micrometer rear sight (windage and elevation).
