Here Ancestry Guns present a High Standard “Flite King LW-100” Semi-Automatic Pistol, made in 1953 during its production run between 1953 and 1957 in Hamden, Connecticut. The High Standard Mfg. Co. was officially founded in 1926 and in 1932 it moved to a bigger plant in Hamden, Conn., where production began. The Flite King is a .22 short rimfire, semi-automatic pistol manufactured with a short production run of only four years. The pistol features a blued 4-1/2 inch barrel, frame, and action which originally came with brown plastic checkered grips, with this example sporting upgraded target grips.

High Standard’s production over the years has been vast and has a reputation for both reliability and accuracy. Over time, it mainly produced handguns, including plinkers, target guns, long and short barrels, as well as serious competition pieces. If you’ve ever heard the term “space gun”, odds are good that they were talking about High Standard.
