The High Standard Supermatic Citation was a fairly popular gun at one time. They competed with Ruger’s Mark-series of pistols as well as the various Colt and S&W .22 semi-auto models. While they are no longer in production, the High Standard pistols are still well built and reliable to the extent they maintain a sizable following of enthusiasts. This example of the Citation is a Model 106 Military. The “Military” version was differentiated from the standard 106 by the grip angle, which is identical to that of a Colt 1911. The pistol is customized to a notable extent, however most of the original parts remain. The original barrel has been replaced by an LSP Aluma-Lite barrel. The picatinny rail up top is also manufactured by LSP. A Bushnell Holo-Sight has been attached taking the place of conventional sights. The original barrel is stored inside a hard case which also normally houses the pistol itself. The original box is also present though it will not store the pistol as long as the Holo-Sight is attached. The Holo-Sight works just fine and provides a sizable reticule to work with, however the width of the mount can make it difficult sometimes to get a grip on the slide in order to rack it. The pistol itself is in excellent condition. The bore exhibits no rust or pitting. The bluing is in 98 % condition. The bottom of the trigger guard bears some minor finish wear. The trigger and magazine catch, which are color case hardened, exhibit some light pitting. The Aluma-Lite barrel has one small nick on the top at 12 to One-o-clock position. There is thin scratch on the left side of the rear sight “base”.
