Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special .45 ACP, early version, special serial, Roy Huntington collection, layaway
Description: Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special 1911 .45 ACP. Made prior to Les Baer's escape/emancipation from Illinois in 2008, serial TR00261 was actually made for Suzi Huntington, Roy's much better half, former LEO, writer, editor and dedicated shooter with a wicked sense of humor. (Suzi insisted on receiving serial "261" from Clint Smith because that number is the California Penal Code number for rape and, in Suzi's words, this pistol was to become her way of saying "I don't think so!".) A full-size 1911, features include a 5-inch match grade barrel, Trijicon night sights, narrow slide serrations, 30 lines-per-inch checkered front strap, bumped beavertail grip safety, checkered mainspring housing and a beveled magazine well. "Suzi" is lightly engraved on slide left opposite the ejection port. It is proven to be very accurate. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. Fits are tight and the trigger pull is crisp. Metal finish crowds 90 percent. The night sight lamps have faded. INCLUSIONS: Other than what is described or pictured there are no additional inclusions. PROVENANCE: A personalized letter of provenance written by Roy Huntington will be sent to the purchaser. ROY HUNTINGTON has written over 2,500 firearm-related articles since his first effort was published in Guns & Ammo during 1982. While his editing career actually began at Police Magazine, industry-wide recognition came after he was named editor of American Handgunner. Roy became the publisher of American Handgunner, Guns and a host of special editions presented by the Firearms Marketing Group in 2004. He remained at the helm of American Handgunner until semi-retirement in 2021. Roy still writes features, a column for American Handgunner and creates a significant amount of video content. His knowledge of all things gun combined with his famous sense of humor shines brightly through his work. NOTE: A number of other Huntington-owned handguns are listed concurrently. The price is firm and layaway is available. $2,500 plus shipping. SOLD |
