This 1916 date 9mm P.08 artillery Luger pistol was one of approx. 20,000 made by DWM in 1916. They are very scarce today as most were lost during the early battles of WWI. There are four key features of the 1914 artillery Luger: 1. The scroll DWM marking on the toggle, 2. The 8-inch barrel with the nine-position adjustable rear sight, 3. The four digit year over the chamber, and 4. No commercial proof marks. This pistol has the DWM marked toggle, an 8-inch barrel with the desirable fine tune front and rear sights, 1916 marked on top of the chamber, and military proof marks. The gun has approx. 97% blue with some fading on the rear grip strap. The bore is excellent with bright, strong rifling. With the exception of the correct type unnumbered magazine, ALL numbers indluding the grips and firing pin match. The grips are fine with light wear. The action functions correctly. The shoulder stock, numbered 7702, is fine with light usage. The attached brown holster is fine with tight seams and intact straps. The leather is smooth with no crazing. The end cap is fine with an intact strap. The spare magazine pouch is very good with the bottoms starting to open and the expected shrinkage so the intact strap will not close. The takedown/loading tool and original cleaning rod are present in the holster. The magazine pouch contains two very good correct type wood base magazines, one unnumbered and one numbered 4562.This is the nicest early date artillery Luger rig I have seen in years. Don't miss it!
