Description: 1920 Dated German Magdeburg Schutzpolizei POLICE LUGER P.08 9mm PISTOL C&R Post-Great War WEIMAR ERA GERMAN POLICE Sidearm Here we present a C&R Post-World War I Dated German DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) Pistole Parabellum P.08 Military Luger Pistol, likely manufactured circa 1920 in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical and productive fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with being carried by German troops during both World Wars and is perhaps the most associated with those events. The right side of the barrel extension has the three Imperial Eagle proofs. This example is police marked “S.Mg.273.” for the Schutzpolizei of the Magdeburg District. Other markings appear faint and were effaced so the police marking would show without confusion. The overall condition is good. Original blue finish. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with strong rifling. Grips show wear and remain solid. Numbers match: restamped on the magazine base plate. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 4 inches.
