Let me provide a little bit of background history: These particular 1940 Mauser Banner variants are estimated between 500 to 800 Mauser Commercial P.08 pistols with "x" suffixes, proofed with post January 1940 Eagle/N test marking. These were redirected from the police to the Army and bear E/655 inspection stamps. This is an EXTREMELY rare variation with about 500 to 800 guns procured from 1939-1942. Pistol has all correct markings including the "Banner" marked toggle, 1940 dated chamber, eagle N proof on the left side and several Army "eagle 655" acceptance proofs on the right side. Gun falls into the correct block (x) and serial range with #1272x. Pistol has all matching numbers including both grips on the inside and the bottom of the magazine including the suffix letter. Holster is in excellent condition and also dated 1940 which matches the rig. Action is smooth and functions fine. Bore is fair to good condition with some light grey/pitting, I’d rate bore 6/10. Metal finish is original blue with some holster and grip wear as expected. Checkered walnut grips have a tight fit with some normal wear.
