c1915 WWI & II LUGER P.08 9x19mm PISTOL Soviet Capture German Cold War
C&R GREAT WAR Dated 1915 IMPERIAL GERMAN ARMY LUGER
Description: c1915 WWI & II LUGER P.08 9x19mm PISTOL Soviet Capture German Cold War C&R GREAT WAR Dated 1915 IMPERIAL GERMAN ARMY LUGER Here we present a C&R World War I Dated Imperial German Pistole Parabellum P.08 Military Luger Pistol, made in 1915 in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical and productive fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with being carried by German troops during both World Wars and is perhaps the most associated with those events. The top of the chamber is Great War dated “1915”. This example was most likely manufactured by DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken). Oddly, it is marked with the “S/42” code, which was the code for Mauser in the years leading up to World War II. Mauser purchased DWM's Luger manufacturing machinery in 1929 and produced Lugers until the later part of World War II. The “S/42” code began in 1934. Interestingly, since the terms of the Treaty of Versailles only allowed the German Simson & Company to produce any of the few small arms granted Germany after World War I, arms production was done secretly at Mauser, among others. The “S” stands for “Simson” to throw off suspicion, and “/42” was the rest of the code for the Mauser factory. Dates were left off of the barrel until about 1936 when Germany’s arms production and military activities started to be brought into the light. This pistol was originally made in 1915, during the Great War. It eventually received the sear spring safety modification in the post-war period and saw continued service through the 2nd World War, whereupon it was captured by the Soviets and used in East Germany. It was eventually armory refinished to replaced worn parts (you will notice the S/42 code Mauser toggle) and received the flat black finish that you see here. The overall condition is good. Excellent action. Bright, nicely rifled bore. Both grips are firmly seated and contain less than average handling. Sharp markings. Force matched numbers. “ZDF SLC UT” import marked. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 4 inches. Caliber: 9x19mm Luger Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
