DWM 1906 American Eagle Model Luger Pistol Chambered in .30 Luger Caliber
Description: This is an excellent DWM 1906 American Eagle Luger pistol in .30 Luger caliber. The Pistole Parabellum or Parabellum-Pistole (Pistol Parabellum), commonly known as just the Luger or Luger P08, is a toggle-locked recoil-operated semi-automatic pistol. The Luger was produced in several models and by several nations from 1898 to 1949. The design was first patented by Georg Luger. It was meant to be an improvement of the Borchardt C-93 pistol, and was initially produced as the Parabellum Automatic Pistol, Borchardt-Luger System by the German arms manufacturer Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM). The first production model was known as the Modell 1900 Parabellum. It was followed by the "Marinepistole 1904" for the Imperial German Navy. These pistols went to the US retail market and the manufacturers at DWM realized that nation-based crests increased sales of these Lugers, so that is why you find the American Eagle over the chamber. This is also why you see GERMANY marked on the frame, denoting these were exported for commercial sale. This example is in very good condition exhibiting some high edge and muzzle wear but nothing serious. The DWM and American Eagles on top of the pistol are sharp and clear. The barrel has a very good bore with strong rifling. Grips are free of cracks or chips. One magazine comes with the pistol. This is a very nice Luger that be a strong addition to a collection or an outstanding start to a new collection.
