ICONIC DWM Luger Pistol from the Weimar Republic
Description: Excellent German DWM Luger 1920 Commercial Pistol Weimar Republic, Inter-World War Production Pistol Here we present a German DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) 1920 Commercial Luger Pistol, made between the two World Wars, circa the 1920s. After the Great War, the victors imposed limits on German arms production, as well as the size of the military and many other things via the Treaty of Versailles. Two of these restrictions were 1) that the barrel length be less than 100mm, and 2) the caliber had to be less than 9mm. The first restriction appears to have had the aim to complicate the manufacturing process and necessitate retooling, however, the modular design of the Luger allowed the manufacturers to simply reduce the barrel length and continue as normal. The caliber restriction was rather ignored it seems. However, this period saw a great production of Luger pistols made for export and many followed the stipulated pattern. This is one such specimen made for export. It is chambered for the 7.65 Luger, fulfilling the sub-9mm requirement, and it has a barrel length of 3-5/8 inches (92mm), also meeting the Treaty’s expectations. The extractor also acts as a loaded chamber indicator and is marked “GELADEN”. The safety is marked “GESICHERT”. The top of the toggle is marked with the “DWM” logo. The right side of the frame is marked “MADE IN GERMANY” and the bottom of the magazine is marked “GERMANY” in the wood. A “Crown/N” proof mark is found on both the left side of the frame and the toggle. This gun does feature a provision for a detachable shoulder stock. The overall condition of this gorgeous piece is excellent, possibly unfired. The trigger, safety bar and takedown lever are their original straw color. Screws, pins and springs are beautiful niter blue. The rest of the exterior of the pistol is a quality blue. The markings are clear and legible. The wood grips are nicely checkered and in fine condition. The bore is excellent and shiny. The action is perfect. The serial numbers match. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 3-5/8 inches in length. Caliber: 7.65 Luger The bore and the action are in excellent condition. Overall condition as seen in photos. Here is a superbly conditioned, between the World Wars Luger, perfect for your collection. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2500 #21640 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
