Superb, super-early production Mauser Parabellum Swiss pattern Luger in prototype range, circa 1970, this example the 53rd pistol assembled in .30 Luger, special numeration and markings, virtually new in an Interarms Luger box.
Description:
Extremely early Mauser Swiss Pattern 29/70 Luger, caliber .30 Luger, assembled by Mauser in 1970. According to page 284 of "The Parabellum is Back!", by Mauro Baudino & Gerben Van Vlimmeren, "The first 60 Mauser Parabellums produced in .30 Luger are usually identified by collectors as prototypes. These pistols were produced immediately after the two prototypes. These pistols have the pattern with double dot (10.00.xxxx) and only the frame is numbered (as for the Display Group)." Top of the 6" bbl. is marked ".30 Luger" followed by an "FBM" within a Mauser banner logo. The Original Mauser logo is on the toggle and the left side of the frame is marked "MAUSER PARABELLUM / .30 Luger". Interarms' importer information on the right side of the bbl. extension. Just below, on the frame, is the full SN, with two periods. The Mauser address is on the front grip strap and "Made in Germany" is on the rear of the frame. Major components have a brightly polished salt blue finish with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, and ejector strawed. Coarsely checkered walnut grips. Blued 8-shot magazine, spine marked with the Mauser banner logo, with black plastic plug. Complete with a non-matching factory box (S# 078v.250B), taken from a Bulgarian Commemorative, with corresponding test target and literature.
Condition:
Wonderful, nearly new prototype-range pistol with 99.9% of its crisp, highly polished salt blue, only a fine light scratch to the left of the "MAUSER PARABELLUM" marking. Comparable condition straw without suggestion of touch-up. Grips with slightly blunted checkering. Magazine in the same immaculate condition. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. Box with some age-related discoloration and scattered marks from handling / storage but no repairs.
