Very Rare WW2 German Police P.08 Luger Pistol by Simson & Co.
Description:
Serial #789a, 9mm Para., 4" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few traces of freckling within the grooves. This is a Simson-produced sear safety-equipped pistol, and has all-matching numbers with proper "(Eagle) / 6" Simson proofs throughout, including the double proofs on the bottom of the stock lug (these were only applied to pistols entirely built by Simson & Co., not to reworks). The metal retains 92-95% of the original blue finish that has silvered at the muzzle, along the high edges and projection, as well as faded to a mellow plum patina along the barrel. Much of the original straw color remains on the trigger and safety lever, while the takedown lever, safety bar, and magazine release have a bright gray patina. The checkered wooden grips are original and are both numbered to the gun on the interior, with correct Simson & Co. proof stamps as well. The grips are in fine shape, with a few minor handling marks on either side, as well as some mild flattening to the checkering points. The pistol comes with a single aluminum-based police magazine ("1") numbered to a different pistol. This is a highly desirable Simson "Polizei" Luger, in fine-near excellent condition, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. FFL or C&R;
