Standard configuration Izhevsk Makarov pistol in 9mmMak with fixed blade front sight and drift adjustable rear sight. Left side of slide marked "?? 1397" with matching "?? 1397 ?" on the left side of frame followed by Izhevsk logo and "P" date code reflecting production in 1964. Forward frame extension marked "1397". Import marks on right side of frame. Reddish brown bakelite grip molded with encircled 5-pointed star on each side. Two early style eight-round magazines, one numbered "2873-2", the other "813-2", later electropenciled "1397-1" and "1397-2" respectively, with large indicator windows. The PM was designed by Nikolay Makarov to replace the TT pistol, becoming the standard service pistol of the Soviet Armed Forces and the Militarily in 1951, one of the most-produced and recognizable firearms in the world.
