Description: Synopsis: Desirable Mauser C96, early Red 9 Contract from WWI, Imperial accepted with later applied property number and early matching serrated grips before application of the classic 'Red 9.' Description: Mauser 'Red 9' configuration C96, 9mmP, with fixed front sight and slip-in 50-500 graduated rear sight. Short extractor. NS type safety. Two lug firing pin, SR hammer. Mauser address on top of chamber, full serial number on left chamber flat. C/C/U on left side of barrel extension with adjacent '1920' property marking; Imperial acceptance on right side. Two line Mauser address on right side of frame. Serrated walnut grips, original lanyard ring. Disassembly shows matching small parts as carefully photographed. Complete with Mauser shoulder stock, hinge with lanyard loop, iron with matching '129.' Condition: VG+ as refinished/reworked liberally coated with cold blue. Small parts with enhanced fire blue, the bolt stop a replacement. Serrated grips with oil staining, superficial handling marks, and light revarnish. Very bright bore, minimal erosion, and sharp rifling. Proper manual mechanics. Stock with revarnished wood and refinished metallic components.
