Description:
Standard configuration Mauser C96 "Broomhandle" pistol, Wartime Standard Commercial with Military Acceptance, cal. 7.63mm, with 5.5-inch barrel, fixed blade front sight, and V-notch tangent rear sight graduated 50-1000. Top of chamber marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF A. NECKAR" with SN: 296125 on left chamber flat and C/C/U on left side of barrel extension. Right side of barrel extension marked with military acceptance, the right side of the frame with "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER / OBERNDORF A. NECKAR". Disassembly shows all matching parts including each of the grips. Complete with factory matching shoulder stock, Imperial proofed below the loop-less hinge, and a correct leather carrier, manufacture marked and dated 1918, with original cleaning rod/ disassembly tool. There is no follower spring in the associated pouch.
Condition:
VG+ original finish pistol showing moderate wear as one might expect from a pistol that was carried in the stock and saw military service for several years. Fire blued parts in comparable condition, the extractor arguably touched-up and with a slight ripple, exposed surfaces faded and toned, especially as concerns the cursor bar and bolt stop. Oil darkened grips with handling marks. Near-mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. Stock with scattered handling marks and bruises, a 3.5 inch crack along the lower spine, fire blued parts with toning, no suggestion of enhancement. Comparable condition leather carrier, the lower pouch holding the cleaning rod having worn through at its tip, replaced leather plug at nose, and the inner surface scribed with the name "SUNDBY".
