Mauser C96 flatside broomhandle
Description: Excellent Mauser Broom with documented WW2 history: this pistol was purchased from the family of WW2 veteran Gilbert Morton. Sgt Morton served with the 501 Parachute Infantry during WW2. This pistol accompanied him home. On the bring back paper, the gun is apparently referred to as a “Schmeisser MP”. This was the only firearm brought back to the family’s knowlege so it seems then as now, “Schmeisser” was a generic term for German automatic weapons. Somewhere along the line, Sgt Morton had his nickname “Gil” engraved on the magazine of the pistol. 1902 manufacture, all matching numbers, rubber grips, large ring flatside all matching original finish with original ( numbered but non matching) shoulder stock / holder in poor condition. The pistol was sent to Luger Man for cleaning and new springs. The barrel was relined due to an extraction problem with the chamber. Pistol is now fully functional and very accurate. How often do you get an opportunity to purchase a rare and desirable firearm in excellent condition with provenance to one of the greatest American combat units from WW2? SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
