Mauser "Standard Wartime Commercial", in 7.63mm x 25mm Mauser caliber. Model 1896 "broomhandle" manufactured between 1912-1914. Serial number 323048, matching numbers on all parts. Imperial Military Proofing mark on the right side of the barrel indicates the gun was issued to The German Imperial Army in WW1 and was in service. Standard 5.5" barrel length with original walnut grips with sharp grooves, and army issued leather holster. Two stripper-clips included are original but the cleaning rod is possibly of later manufacture. Much of the bluing overall remains with all the fire-blue parts also retaining their strong color. One tiny nick on the left walnut grip, which has 33 grooves and one small dent on the right walnut grip, which has 34 grooves. A bring-back by my grandfather after WW1, it was lightly oiled and stored in a bank vault in 1920 and has not ever been fired since at least that time. There are some minor scratches and some light surface pitting but nothing deep and no rusting of the metal. All of the serial numbers and factory stampings are sharp and crisp, as is the barrel bore, with strong clear rifling. Very tight gun is in excellent mechanical condition and has not been professionally cleaned. Firearm can only be shipped to a licensed FFL. Buyer to pay an additional $75.
