This Mauser BYF date code 42 pistol is a late WWII example Luger P.08. It retains approximately 90% of the original finish and is in good condition. The receiver and barrel are stamped with the correct E/135 acceptance marks and test fire proofs. The full serial number of 3371L can be found on the bottom of the barrel, the front of the frame, and the left side of the receiver. The weapon's internal components are all matching, as the last two digits of the serial can be found on the breechblock, extractor, front toggle link, rear toggle link, sear, sear bar safety lever, side plate, takedown lever, thumb safety lever, and trigger. The extractor is marked "GELADEN" on the left side. The grips are the correct checkered walnut style and appear aged correctly with the pistol but do not have any visible markings on the under side. The magazine is a FXO 41 magazine with P.08, and double E/37 markings. A segment of the bakelite magazine base ear on the one side has broken off. The bore is clean and the rifling is crisp and well defined. The frame under the grips shows some spots of discoloration where it is estimated that light surface pitting was remediated. The rest of the pistol has been gone through and is very clean. At some point in history, letters "VM" were neatly engraved underneath of the serial number on the trigger guard.
