Mauser produced a small lot of Parabellum pistols known as Sporter or Target model (Mauser Parabellum Sporting-Match-Version); This model was equipped with
A. Heavy match barrel;
B. Fully adjustable micrometer sights;
C. Special sporting trigger
Mauser made an effort to have a great weight distribution, smooth handling and specially designed grips. The shape of the barrels in 9mm is different from the one in .30 Luger. The length of the pistol is 239mm.
Concerning the weight, the 9mm is 1050 grams (With empty magazine) and 1150 grams when loaded. The heavy barrels have been used to compensate the muzzle climb. The serial number of the Sport pistol in calibre 9mm should start around 11.0104XX. This serial number indicates that the initial manufacture of the sports models began in 1973 and lasted for a couple of years before the final configuration was reached.
An internal Mauser letter signed by Prof. Dr. Rolf Gminder, Mauser manager, on date 7th of September 1976, told us about the first group of Sport pistol. The letter says:
\"The first order of Parabellum pistol Match-Version without grip safety, with adjustable visor on rear toggle, was of 150 pistols and included in caliber 9mm Para 87 pieces, in caliber 7.65mm Para 63 pieces.
