Original Flintlock US Model 1836 Pistol by Asa Waters 1843 dated

NSN, .54 Caliber, 8 1/2" barrel with a fair, lightly pitted bore. This is an 1843-dated pistol that has an overall mottled gray patina mixing with spots of plum-brown freckling evenly scattered about the surface metal. The barrel markings are still visible at the breech, and the lock plate is marked "(Eagle Head) / A. WATERS / MILBURY MS. / 1843" beneath the brass pan, which has a dull yellow-ochre patina. The lock is tight and the mechanics are fully functional while the walnut stock has an thick, added oil finish over numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about. There is a visible cartouche on the left side opposite the lock, as well as an added rack or inventory number, "52." This is a handsome pistol, and is in about very good condition overall. Antique;
