"WWII Japanese Showa 17.3 Kokubunji Type 14 Pistol with Bring-Back Paperwork 8x22 Nambu (L2026-02277)
Description: "Serial no. 5492. Manufactured in March 1942 at Kokubunji, chambered in 8x22 Nambu,4 ½"" round barrel. The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. Serial numbers are matching with the exception of the magazine, while the grips and firing pin are unmarked. Approximately 90–95% of the original blue finish remains, giving the pistol an excellent overall appearance. The Type 14 was the standard Japanese service pistol during WWII, with mid-war production such as this example still exhibiting relatively high-quality machining and finish. The pistol is accompanied by a brown leather holster, though the upper flap has separated due to stitching failure. Of particular note, this example includes original bring-back paperwork indicating S/Sgt. William A. Nolteriek acquired “one Japanese pistol," dated September 4, 1945, with the seal of the 112th Cavalry. The 112th Cavalry participated in the occupation of Japan, landing at Tateyama Naval Base following the surrender ceremonies in Tokyo Bay and carrying out disarmament operations of Japanese forces. The action is mechanically sound and functions correctly. SOLD |
