Late-18th Century BRITISH FLINTLOCK Military Pistol by THOMAS KETLAND & CO. BRITISH ORDNANCE INSPECTED
Description: Late-18th Century BRITISH FLINTLOCK Military Pistol by THOMAS KETLAND & CO. BRITISH ORDNANCE INSPECTED Here we present an antique W. Ketland & Co. Flintlock Military Pistol, made circa the late 1700s in England. The Ketland family operated in Birmingham and London, England, from the mid-1700s to the early 1800s and their wares would feature in many of the most prominent conflicts of the time to include the French & Indian War, the American Revolutionary War, and the War of 1812, amongst others. This example was inspected by British Ordnance as seen on the left side of the barrel. This is a full-sized pistol that would have been carried in a belt or in pommel holsters on a horse. It features a 9-1/4 inch round barrel with a .66 caliber bore. True to the era there was no provision for sights. Brass hardware includes a stout plate on the pommel that made the stock more resilient as a blunt force object. Once you spent your single charge you could turn the gun around to be used as a club. The lock plate is marked "T/KETLAND/& Co. The top of the barrel is marked “LONDON”. The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. The bore is in good shape. Solid stock. A fantastic example of a British Army sidearm from the late-1700s by the Ketland! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9-1/4 inches. Caliber: .66 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2795 #20161 SOLD Antique: Yes |
