REVOLUTIONARY WAR Period British Ketland Pistol
Ornate Queen Anne Flintlock Pistol c 1760
Here we present an antique Ketland & Co. Flintlock Pistol, made circa 1760s in Birmingham, England. Thomas Ketland of Ketland & Co. was a very successful Birmingham gun maker. He started in business around 1760, expanded into the export market around 1790, and died in 1816.
This type of pistol was very popular from the 18th and into the 19th Centuries, in Europe, as well as the colonies. It could be stowed in the top of a boot, the belt, waistband or even a large pocket. It was of course, made primarily for self-defense, and very well would tell stories if it could. Much happened in Britain, in its colonies and abroad during this period.
The overall condition is very good. The bore is smooth and dusty. The action (hammer/trigger) is in great shape. The frizzen spring is weak and does not tension the frizzen.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 3-3/4 inches.
Overall condition as seen in photos.
